When we’re in a bad mood, we can often distract from that bad mood by doing something else. It is also what we often call the substitution method. Here are some small ways to teach you how you can kick away your bad mood and restore your peace of mind in the shortest possible time.
1. Smile and create happiness
Try this method even when you are in a very low mood. Make a smiley face and hold it for two minutes. Scientific studies have proven that people who try to laugh will also feel happy, their moods will rise, and they will feel better as long as they are really laughing. Even if you didn’t want to laugh and didn’t feel happy.
2. Solve problems, don’t complain
Constantly complaining about your problems is a way to keep your mood down. Talking about your problem is fine if you want to figure out a solution, but making yourself the drama heroine of an event will only cause you to have a constant negative attitude and have to bring it up over and over again, unbearably. And, supposedly, a whine and a sigh can bring you down in an instant.
3. Listen to music and hum
Singing is the easiest way to improve your mood, according to clinicians at the Nordoff Robbins Centre for Music Therapy in London, England. Because singing adjusts the breathing, the whole body moves to the rhythm. Whether you’re humming by yourself or singing with a friend, even if you’re just listening quietly, it helps to relax your mind and body.

4. Relax and have fun
Work less, worry less, get outdoors and dedicate your free time to having fun. This will make you less depressed, more connected to others, and improve your overall health.
5. Stop judging others
Studies show that constantly judging others and their demeanor is a testament to being super self-critical. To live a more relaxed and comfortable life, stop judging yourself for being good or bad, give yourself a break, and acknowledge that you are human. No one is perfect!
6. Don’t strive for perfection
Perfection is impossible in real life, so trying to reach impossibly high standards is a waste of time. Instead, tailor more realistic goals and go with the flow-it will all make you happier in life.
7. Accept the things you can’t change
For example, your height, the color of your skin, the fact that you didn’t win the bet and the fact that you didn’t become an Oscar-winning actress. This will make you feel better emotionally and give you a positive outlook on the future.

8. Learn to say “no”
This is about not continuing to be a hero when you can’t fix it. If you say “yes” to everything, you’ll be overwhelmed, exhausted, and victimized by everyone depending on you.
9. Let bygones be bygones
Include mistakes, cheating boyfriends, silly things you’ve done – learn from them and move on, instead of constantly reminding yourself of them and letting them bring you down.
10. Smash something
Indulge yourself and smash some pottery – it’s good for your mind and body. Apparently, one-third of people with high blood pressure often repress their anger. And experts say a better way to do that is to let it out, not keep it inside!
11. Do something you love
Some studies in the hedonic department have found that doing something you love, either shopping or wasting time, can help boost the efficiency of your immune system, release mental tension, and increase levels of compound amines in the brain.
No matter what comes our way, we need to learn to regulate ourselves and keep an upbeat mindset. Think about what we can do to improve things, rather than focusing on the bad. So, ladies, try these little ways to get you in the mood!
