1. Lover
A man has a high sex drive and to satisfy his physical needs, he wants a hot lover who will only make out with him. A man may fantasize about having sex with different women, but most men know it’s impractical, but he wants a woman to be wild and creative to make up for that lack.
2. Playmate
Men need encouragement to keep them going as they strive for personal achievement and worth. Because men are less able to build intimate relationships, it is important to know that someone will have their back when they hit a roadblock.
3. Mother
A man wants someone to take care of him, someone who will love him and take care of him instead of his mother (although now that he’s a grown man, he shouldn’t act like a little boy anymore). He wants a mommy to take care of him when he’s sick, someone to help him find his keys, and (though he never says so) help him heal the trauma of male domestication.
4. A buddy
A man wants a buddy to share the burdens of everyday life with, a close friend who can help him deal with problems, make decisions, and face daily challenges, as well as a buddy with whom he can share common likes and dislikes.
5. The tamer
Men look to women to act as their interpersonal bridge to enable their unruly selves to interact with other people. The woman is the interpersonal connector, the bridge to other couples, who invites, provides entertainment, and builds relationships.
Some men also need a woman to teach them social etiquette, to help them dress and decorate their homes, and to make the house feel like home. Men are often torn between intimacy and detachment, and they know they should not be tied down because being domesticated means losing the ability to fight.
6. A capable adult
A man also wants someone he respects, relies on and admires. Whether she is a housewife or a professional woman, she always has to be competent, savvy, and efficient, and he wants to be proud of her.
Maybe he’ll be proud of her knitting, cooking, degrees, career achievements, or ability to raise children because it makes him feel smug, proud of her, and able to rely on her. Having a smart, capable woman will make it much easier for him because she can share the responsibilities of life with him.
