My girlfriends also have a not-so-subtle confusion about how many bras they actually have in their closet to be considered enough. They say, “Well, you can’t help us find a shortcut to buying bras, so at least give us a more satisfactory answer to that question.”
If you look closely, you’ll see that there are actually two areas of bras on the market in Europe and the US: large sizes and regular sizes. The large size, naturally, is made for large figures, meaning D cups and above including D cups, or at least a part from 38C cups, currently up to 42DD. In the United States, the design of the bra for large and normal figures has been two tracks, accounting for a very disparate share of the market share. It’s not that we don’t pay attention to the market of large figures, but according to the physiological characteristics of larger women, the existing market can provide bras are basically “full cup type”. Although there are differences in the details of specific styles, the focus is always on the “hood – full”, and the design space is much smaller than the average figure. The actual dazzling bras we see on the market today are designed for the average body, and the women I’m confused about above are wandering around this market, specifically from the number, i.e. from 32A to 36C.
The future of bra wearing, I don’t know what the future holds, is still basically under outerwear, and one of the references from a design point of view is the shape of the neckline of the outerwear.
One is a full-coverage type, which can be worn with or without a neckline; two is a half-cup type, which is generally suitable for outerwear with a larger neckline so that the bra is not exposed; three is a flat-cup type, which is worn under a one-piece neckline; four is a halterless type, which is worn with strapless outerwear; and five is a The word “plunge” is difficult to translate, probably a deeper V and can squeeze out the cleavage of a shape, with a V-neckline, or even open chest lower outerwear; six is the T-shirt bra, as the name suggests, is worn under a wrap T-shirt, to not show both body features and bra traces of a kind.
Of course, these styles are only the most basic concepts, and each basic concept will in turn have many different forms in terms of structure, for example, lifted to enhance the shape of the chest, with or without sponge pads, with or without bra, straps back crossed, laced behind the neck, movable straps, even deep back, and so on, which will require each person to make a more detailed choice according to their own body conditions. For example, people with less than full breasts obviously won’t fit in a non-padded bra and will always need a little more support.
But really, no matter how varied the bras on the market are, they’re all really designed with the above basic shapes in mind. When we do design for each season, we first need to make sure that these big types are not missed, and then only to change or add design elements, such as the use of lace, different positions of using lace, changes in embroidery, jacquard or printed fabrics, and then the matching of the season’s popular colors. In short, from the design point of view, to be fancy, but off but not change the bone, will not make subversive changes to the basic structure of the bra, unless there are innovations in technology.
So by this reasoning, is it enough for a woman to have these types of bras, one of each type? The reasoning is yes, but how many women buy clothes based on their sanity? Rational to the fitting room can also remember how much stock there is in the lingerie closet at home? There are many temptations in the market, a wonderful lace pattern, a distinctive suspenders, a bow with pearls, even a popular new color, can be a reason for women to buy a new bra. And as designers, this is our goal – to charm more consumers with our design details, so that every woman can own a hundred bras. If we can’t do that, we haven’t fulfilled our role? We envy our fellow British lingerie designers because some British women spend up to 15,000 pounds a year on lingerie, which is about 156,000 yuan! As a lingerie designer, I naturally aspire to have a market with such an insane figure.
