Myth #1: The psychiatrist will tell me exactly how to go about it.
[Explanation] Psychologists generally do not tell specific and detailed approaches. Such a doctor just gives you the gold, not the finger that counts it. A psychiatrist would prefer to help you benefit permanently.
Myth #2: A psychiatrist will help me make choices about events.
[Explanation] In addition to conventional medical advice, psychologists take a neutral approach to help patients more objectively, rather than relying on their own experience to help you choose.
Myth #3: Psychotherapy can solve the problem completely in one session.
[Explanation] The psychologist will strive to benefit and develop the patient each time, but it takes time and therapy to build up to the resolution of the problem.
Myth 4: Psychologists are psychologists and can give me advice without me having to say anything.
[Explanation] Psychological treatment depends on a spiritual encounter between the therapist and the patient to do the treatment, but a psychologist is certainly not a fortune teller.
Myth #5: If you do psychotherapy, you don’t need medication.
[Explanation] Disease and condition states need to be continually evaluated to proceed. Medication use is done in consultation with a physician and sometimes needs to be done together.
Mindfulness
“If a person wants to change their life, change themselves first and become mature. When life is not as good as it should be, don’t put all the blame on others and change your life by changing people, that is very dangerous. If a person does not know how to reflect and refuses to grow, it is futile to change any more people.”
