Post-90s misunderstanding unlocked: the return of the post-90s view of female chastity

The first regional psychosocial survey report on Chongqing citizens was released recently, which took two years to complete in cooperation with the School of Psychology of Southwest University and the Jiangbei District Local History Office. The sub-report “Study on residents’ views on marriage and family” is particularly eye-catching, with the post-90s standing in the limelight and the controversial post-80s. The report clearly explains the attitudes of the four social stalwarts – the post-60s, post-70s, post-80s and post-90s – about marriage and family.

It is reported that 1,500 Chongqing citizens who participated in the survey are all over 15 years old, distributed in various industries, including student representatives, and the number of participants in each age group is equal, with half of the number of menand half of the number of women, and 757 married people.

A few days ago, Sun Yuanming, a psychologist and sociologist at the city’s Academy of Social Sciences, interpreted the report.

Urban Marriage Report Premarital Sex

Post-60s: most opposed to men having sex before marriagePost-90s: most opposed to women losing their virginity before marriage

With the progress of society and the influence of Western thought, the concept of “women should remain sexually pure before marriage” is weakening.

With social progress and the influence of Western thought, the idea that women should remain sexually pure before marriage is weakening. The questionnaire was about men’s view of chastity. “Only 9.9% of the public believe that men should not be sexually pure before marriage, and 8% oppose the idea of chastity for women.

Post-60s have the highest percentage of all surveyed groups, with 39% opposing premarital sex for men. However, from an occupational perspective, those in business and service industries disapprove of men having a premarital view of chastity.

The post-90s, with 40% feeling the need to adhere to the concept of female chastity, are the group with the highest number of votes among the three generations. the post-80s have the lowest support for premarital sexual purity among men and women. In terms of income, divided by $2,500, those earning less than $2,500 are more likely to agree that women should remain sexually pure before marriage than those earning more than $2,500.

View of marriage

Post-80s: lowest couple satisfactionPost-70s: highest couple satisfaction

High divorce rate, rash, self-centered, don’t know how to suffer, these are the summaries of the post-80s by the society. And in this report, the post-80s collectively roar out, “We are empty, we run around all day, we are busy for marriage, and we have no money!” Among the many surveys, the post-80s couples are the least satisfied, and they need too much preparation before they get married.

The post-80s, as the main force of marriage, “flash marriage flash divorce” has long left an impression of haste. In fact, they are more tired of getting married.

The first time I saw a house, I had to get married.

So the post-80s, who have only been out of school for a short time and whose jobs are not yet stable, are running around day and night for tickets, houses and cars. The majority of the post-80s youth can only earn a down payment, and the future has been “sold out” to the bank to repay the loan. The “poor busy people” have become a self-deprecating slogan for the post-80s.

So, only 38% of post-80s couples are satisfied with their relationship, the lowest satisfaction group. 72% of post-80s also feel lonely, 68% of post-80s feel painful and unhappy, and only 25% of post-80s feel they are “lucky”. “good luck”.

When evaluating their marriage, post-70s couples are the most satisfied, over 40%, while post-60s feel that life is lively and happy.

Conclusion: The post-80s are the most confused and cynical generation. How to guide the post-90s generation not to follow the footsteps of the 80s should be the concern of the whole society.

View on divorce

Post-90s and post-60s: Most of them don’t agree with “divorce if you don’t feel like getting along”

Post-80s and post-70s: The view on divorce tends to focus on oneself

Feeling

Selfish, net worms, early love, one-night stand, show off the rich …… This is the network on the mouth of the post-90s evaluation. However, the survey report of the “Study on Residents’ Views on Marriage and Family” shows that we have misread the post-90s, who are positive, conservative in their views on divorce and more in favor of family interests than personal gains and losses.

60% of the post-90s disagree with the idea of “divorce if you don’t feel like it,” compared to 50% of the post-60s.

Post-90s respondents felt that “family harmony is more important than personal gain or loss”, accounting for 43%. post-90s generally said that “filial piety is everyone’s basic responsibility”.

Because the oldest post-90s are only 19 years old, they have not entered the marriage hall, most of them are only dating the opposite sex, and there is idealization in treating some couple issues. “Willing to sacrifice the interests of the couple when the interests of the couple and the interests of the parents are at odds,” the post-80s agreed the most.

Family view

Post-60s: Most people disagree that “it is better to live too hard than not to live”

Post-70s: Only 1/4 of them feel that life is enjoyable

People born after 60 years old, the youngest has already entered the threshold of 40 years old, and the oldest is already 49 years old. Most of these people have successful careers and more stable families.

“Life is inseparable from enjoyment, it is better to live too hard than not to live.” 42.4% of the post-60s respondents said they did not agree with such a view, and most of them still have a revolutionary spirit of struggle. At the same time, 30% said they agree with hedonic optimism, indicating that a significant portion of the respondents care more about living well and do not want to live too bitterly.

By age group, nearly 30% of the post-60s agree that it is better to live too hard than not to live at all, followed by the post-80s and post-90s, and the post-70s have the lowest level of enjoyment, with only 26.5% of them feeling that life is enjoyable.

31% of post-60s feel they have lived a meaningful life in the recent past, that their families are more fulfilling, and that life is uplifting. This survey option is more satisfying than the post-70s, post-80s and post-90s.

While supporting enjoyment, the post-60s also feel that “it is everyone’s basic responsibility to honor their parents. Twenty-six percent of the post-60s feel that “I would have one more child if the policy allowed it.” The post-60s who have siblings generally said, “I hope very much that my children will not be like the only children of the post-80s and post-90s, who have no siblings and are very lonely.”

Picture of the four age groups

The survey report “paints a picture” of each of the four age groups.

Post-90s: They have a broader view of the purpose of relationships, not just to get married; they agree most on one-night stands and extramarital affairs; and they agree more than other age groups that women should be sexually pure before marriage.

Post-80s: Post-80s are less likely than other age groups to agree that women should be sexually pure before marriage. post-80s are more likely than other age groups to feel lonely, confused, and unhappy.

Post-70s: more conservative about one-night stands and extramarital affairs.

Post-60s: hold more favorable views on hedonism than the other three age groups, and are more opposed to premarital sex for men.

Experts explain that the post-90s are misunderstood by their “seniors”

For this survey report, Sun Yuanming, a psychologist and sociologist at the city’s Academy of Social Sciences, said that as a more comprehensive social psychological survey report of the public, he has paid attention to it for a long time.

Sun Yuanming said that society’s evaluation of the post-90s is diametrically opposed to the report’s results, which may seem like two opposites. In fact, it reflects the diversity of the society’s view of the post-90s, unlike everyone’s view of the post-50s and post-60s, which tends to be the same. Secondly, the growing, developing and changing post-90s, like all people of the times, have both positive and negative sides. And this report shows the more positive side of the post-90s, mostly with college students as the target of the survey, “the elite group represents the direction of development of this group.”

Sun Yuanming said the post-80s and post-90s are a product of recent years and reflect more of a difference and disconnect between them and the older generation. It is not only the marriage concept of the post-80s, the main force of marriage, that is changing, but reflects the change in the marriage concept of the whole society. The change of Chinese citizens’ view on marriage is influenced by the Western countries 10 years ago. “Do not feel that the generation is not as good as the generation, this is what must be experienced by growing up.”
