In many people’s dreams, erotic dreams are a frequent but difficult to share, and behind it, there are actually many real thoughts hidden. Recently, an American magazine published the 8 most common sexual dreams and asked several psychologists and sexologists to interpret them.
Dream #1: Dreaming of intimate behavior with a superior or colleague.
Leslie, a 26-year-old single female teacher who usually doesn’t interact much with her colleagues, often dreamed of a male colleague taking her outdoors to ride a horse. In the dream, the stimulation of the saddle makes her enjoy the pleasure and even let out a moan. Leslie often feels embarrassed by this.
Dr. Pam Spall, a relationship psychologist in London, England, says that dreaming about a superior leader or colleague does not indicate that you subconsciously want to have a relationship with him or her, but mostly that you admire the person’s abilities and want him or her to give you guidance and help. Horses appear frequently in female sex dreams, and women who like to masturbate may dream of petting horses.
Dream 2: Dream of public sex.
Dina, 29, dreamed that she met a strange man at the airport who struck up a conversation, then pulled her into his arms and they started having sex in full view of everyone. The funniest part of the dream was that Dina didn’t even see the man’s face.
Carol L. Cummings, a dream analysis expert in Arizona, says these kinds of sex dreams reveal an open-mindedness that indicates you’re looking forward to a new relationship and are enthusiastic about a new love life. The “inability to see the man’s face” is a form of self-protection, indicating that the heart is still preparing for the arrival of a new relationship.
Dream 3: Dream of making out with someone of the same sex.
Janine, a 37-year-old nurse, dreamed that she met a woman in a coffee shop. As she drank her coffee, the foam splashed on her mouth and the woman smiled and kissed her on the lips and neck. In reality, Janine is not homophobic.
Dr. Spall said that dreaming about lingering with someone of the same sex does not mean that your sexual orientation has changed, but only that you expect more care and consideration sexually and that you desire gentler movements from your partner. It also means that you expect understanding from the same sex in your life.
Dream 4: Dreaming of sex with a celebrity.
Kathy, 34, said she dreamed of having wild sex with star Leonardo DiCaprio in broad daylight several times during the “Titanic” hit, and didn’t stop even when her family found out.
People often have celebrity-related sex dreams, and women especially often. When you dream of having sex with a celebrity, you are actually expecting your significant other to have certain traits embodied by the celebrity, such as bravery or romance. The fact that a family member appears in the dream and doesn’t even stop suggests that she is sexually confident.
Dream #5: Dreaming of sex in your childhood home.
Mary, 39, dreamed she was having sex with a man in her mother’s house, but she didn’t like the man and was even disgusted by him. Many of her sexual dreams took place in her childhood home.
Dr. Holloway said that dreaming about her childhood home indicates that current sexuality is heavily influenced by family and indicates a desire to return to the simpler life of childhood. To dream of having sex with someone you loathe suggests that in reality you may be experiencing some difficulties that you have to face and need to communicate with those around you.
Dream #6: To dream of cheating on your wife.
Liz, 31, had repeated dreams of cheating on her husband with his brother or a close friend. In the dream, the sex was very natural and Liz enjoyed it extremely. But such straightforward and realistic sex dreams also made her feel “guilty about cheating.
Dr. Spall said the dream doesn’t mean you want to cheat. It could just be that your life is too uneventful. Repeated dreams like this indicate that you are bored with some part of your marriage (not necessarily the sex life), and it’s time to take steps to rekindle your passion as a couple.
Dream #7: Dream of rekindling an old love.
Stephanie, 37, is the mother of two children. She often dreams of wild passion with her college crush, a mentor whose knowledge and substance overwhelmed her.
Dr. Cummings says that if we have a strong emotional connection to someone, then we may dream about that person in a sex dream. It is common to dream about an old flame from the past, and it may be a symbol of something you have associated with him or her. Stephanie’s dream about her mentor shows that she misses the youth, freedom and desire for knowledge she had at that stage.
Dream #8: Dreams of forced sexual interruptions.
Katie, 39, dreamed of having sex with a man she liked, but it ended before she could reach orgasm. She often has sex dreams such as these, with excellent foreplay, but is always interrupted when she is close to orgasm.
Dr. Cummings said that on the one hand, this may indicate that Katie’s sexual needs are not being met, and on the other hand, she is dissatisfied with the status quo in her life. If the dream is always about sex being interrupted or not being able to orgasm, it may indicate a lack of trust in the lover or a fear of intimate sex.
