When it comes to marriage, when it comes to family life, we probably only think about our own family and can only care about our own family. But there are things that don’t just happen in your home, but in other families as well. Today we’ll learn about the factors that affect marital happiness, and we should all try to avoid these things in our lives.
Half of all couples spend less than an hour a day talking.
In the survey, “willingness and ability to communicate and understand” was the second most important factor affecting marital happiness, but in reality, more than half of the respondents (58.9%) talk to their loved ones every day.
Li Huili said that the longer you’re married, the more important it is to communicate, so older couples should especially devote an hour a day to chatting with their partners, before bedtime, during meals, and during a phone call at work. In addition, you can also express your feelings through body language, such as leaning closer while watching TV and holding hands while walking.
Sixty percent of people think relationships are more important than money.
Modern people are generally perceived to be increasingly materialistic, but in fact, more than 60% of couples believe that “love is better than money. Even in a survey of unmarried people in relationships, character, personality, and affection are the first factors singles consider.
Experts agree: “Marriage is a long-term process, and material things can accumulate slowly, but the prerequisite is that two people have the right personality and a foundation of affection.”
“Life’s chores” are the number one reason for quarrels.
The top five reasons for couples’ quarrels are, in descending order, chores, habits, children, poor communication and money. Shanghai Psychological Counseling Association President Wang Yuru said that couples living, quarrels are inevitable, but both sides blame each other, do not think of each other’s views and leave in anger, are negative, vicious quarrels, will make the distance between the two more and more distant. The first thing you need to do is to make a joke or a gift after the argument.
Cheating is the number one killer of marriages.
While some people have “reservations” about “extramarital affairs” and “third parties “reservations”, as long as it does not offend the interests of others is acceptable. But “cheating” is still the number one driver of divorce in the survey, 17.5% higher than “domestic violence,” which came in second.
Marriage expert and national counselor Li Huili believes that in modern society, there are more opportunities and temptations, and the risk factors for marriage have increased accordingly, so people feel that marriage is precious and loyalty is more important than ever.
Happiness is lowest after 7-10 years of marriage.
From the survey results, the overall happiness of Chinese people in marriage is relatively high, with 81.3% of those who have been married for less than 3 years feeling “very happy”. The highest happiness index is found among those who have been married for 7-10 years, and only 68.8% of them feel “very happy”, the lowest percentage.
Di Xiaolan, director of the Marriage Crisis Intervention Center at Beijing Huilongguan Hospital, said that within three years of marriage, couples’ happiness is higher because the excitement of first love, the sweet world of two people, and the new life plan provide a virtuous stimulus.
But as time passes, the marriage reaches a “bottleneck,” commonly known as the “seven-year itch. This is the time when couples with old and young children, life and work pressure, married life becomes boring, happiness will be reduced.
